Mito Color Imaging recently promoted new compatible toner cartridges for use in HP Color Laser 150a, 150nw and HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw, 179fwg, 178nw, and 178nwg printers. While these products are marketed as compatible replacements for OEM supplies, Mito Color Imaging has been the subject of serious labor-practice allegations documented in an investigation by China Labor Watch. The report identified Mito Color Imaging (also known as Zhuhai Mingtu Technology and a subsidiary of Hubei Dinglong) as a major manufacturer of compatible toner cartridges and alleged violations including the employment of underage workers, excessive and unpaid overtime, recruitment discrimination, inadequate safety training, workplace abuse, and other labor-law violations. Consumers, resellers, and procurement organizations considering toner cartridges for HP Color Laser 150a, 150nw, HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw, 179fwg, 178nw, and 178nwg printers may therefore wish to evaluate not only product compatibility and pricing but also the labor-practice concerns that have been raised regarding the company’s manufacturing operations and supply chain.
