Office Certification, Highlighting 50% Return Rate for Empty Toner Cartridges.
Lexmark’s Cartridge Collection Program (LCCP) has reached an impressive 50% return rate for Lexmark-designed and branded toner cartridges in the United States, underscoring the program’s success in promoting circularity and reducing waste. On a global scale, 36% of Lexmark cartridges are returned, significantly surpassing the estimated industry average of 20% to 30%.In line with its sustainability goals, Lexmark’s global headquarters in Lexington, KY, and its research, development, and shared services facility in Cebu, Philippines, have now both earned CarbonNeutral® certification, following the CarbonNeutral Protocol. These certifications mark a significant step forward in Lexmark’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality across its operations by 2035.
Lexmark’s first CarbonNeutral® site, located in Juárez, Mexico, was certified as a CarbonNeutral® manufacturer in 2022. Together, the Lexington, Cebu, and Juárez locations account for 51% of the company’s global operational carbon footprint.
“Reaching the halfway point in our journey toward carbon neutrality is a major achievement, the result of years of strategic planning, innovative initiatives, and a commitment to progress,” said Billy Spears, Lexmark’s senior vice president overseeing sustainability and product delivery. “The success in Lexington, Cebu, and Juárez not only highlights our efforts but also serves as an inspiration for further advancements at other Lexmark facilities.”
Lexmark continues to prioritize reducing its environmental impact through clear, measurable goals and third-party verification. These efforts are integral to the company’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, which aims to enhance operational efficiency while generating positive outcomes for both people and the communities where it operates.
“Sustainability is not just a corporate initiative at Lexmark; it’s embedded in how we operate and develop solutions that deliver genuine, meaningful impact,” Spears added.
