Office Depot’s supply chain subsidiary, Veyer LLC, will close its Jessup, Maryland distribution center, resulting in 46 employee layoffs. The closure is part of a nationwide restructuring strategy aimed at cutting costs and consolidating warehouse operations.
The Jessup facility is one of several distribution centers affected by Veyer’s plan to streamline logistics across more than 40 U.S. hubs. Affected employees have been notified, with the layoffs expected to take effect by late September.
This move follows a broader trend by Office Depot and its parent company, The ODP Corporation, to scale back operations, including previous announcements of store closures and workforce reductions across the country.
No public statement has been made about relocation opportunities for displaced workers, though similar past closures have included severance and transition assistance. The company has not indicated whether additional closures are planned.
