Lexmark Dedicates US Headquarters Solar Array to Late Chief Sustainability Officer. This Earth Day, Lexmark is honoring its late chief sustainability officer, John Gagel, by dedicating its 2-megawatt solar array at its global headquarters in Lexington, KY, to his memory. The solar array stands as a powerful tribute to his deep commitment to sustainability. For more details, check out the blog post announcing the dedication [here].
In just over a year of operation, the John D. Gagel Solar Array has made remarkable strides in helping Lexmark work toward its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2035: Energy generation: The array has produced approximately 3 million kilowatt hours (kWh), preventing the release of 2,397 metric tons of carbon dioxide—roughly the amount needed to heat or cool 296 homes for a year. Cost savings: The array has also delivered significant savings, reducing Lexmark’s annual energy costs at the Lexington facility by about 13%.
Looking ahead, Lexmark’s sustainability leaders are continuing Gagel’s work with plans for a new 0.5-megawatt solar array at the company’s site in Juárez, Mexico.
