Ricoh’s controversial UK manufacturing restructuring is moving into its next phase, with a redundancy consultation now underway at Ricoh UK Products Limited in Telford, England, putting hundreds of manufacturing jobs at risk as production of office printer toner shifts to France. According to the latest report from the Shropshire Star published October 13, 2026, a significant number of redundancies are expected by January 2027, with most affected employees expected to leave by March. The restructuring follows Ricoh’s earlier announcement that approximately 70% of production at the Telford facility would transfer to ETRIA Manufacturing France in Normandy, with the transition expected to take around 14 months. Ricoh has not confirmed the final number of job losses and emphasizes that only part of the Telford site’s operations is affected. The move represents a significant shift in European printer toner manufacturing, raising questions about the future of UK production, manufacturing costs, automation and employment as Ricoh consolidates production in France. Tonernews.com previously reported on the planned relocation; the latest developments indicate that the employment consequences are now becoming more immediate.
