Chinese 3D printer giant Bambu Lab is taking its rapid expansion to the next level, confirming plans to open authorized retail experience stores across the United States after shipping more than 1 million desktop 3D printers worldwide. The aggressive retail push comes alongside plans to expand manufacturing capacity to as many as 3 million printers annually, fueling concerns that affordable, high-speed 3D printing is becoming a serious competitive threat to segments of the traditional office printing and manufacturing industries. By allowing customers to test printers in person and receive hands-on demonstrations, Bambu Lab hopes to accelerate mainstream adoption and capture an even larger share of the fast-growing additive manufacturing market. As the company moves beyond online sales into physical retail, established printer manufacturers may soon face a new rival that is redefining how consumers and businesses think about printing.
