INK-TANK has entered the market with a replacement 159A/W1590A black toner cartridge for HP LaserJet Enterprise 5501n printers, but Tonernews.com—the industry’s self-proclaimed “Toner Police”—is asking a simple question: Who gave INK-TANK or Ninestar permission to clone HP’s toner cartridge technology? HP did not authorize INK-TANK or Ninestar to manufacture, market, or sell these HP replacement toner cartridges, and Tonernews.com believes unauthorized clone cartridges that copy protected HP technology and are marketed in a manner that infringes HP trademarks, patents, or other intellectual property should be treated as counterfeit products. The growing flood of Chinese-made HP toner clones continues to threaten OEM intellectual property, legitimate U.S. remanufacturers, and the global printer supplies industry, making patent enforcement, anti-counterfeit investigations, and stricter scrutiny of unauthorized compatible toner cartridges more important than ever.
