Q2 earnings slip at
United Stationers
August
2005 – Des Plaines (IL): United Stationers has reported a small drop in its
Q2 earnings due to an operating loss in the company’s Canada division and the
settlement of lawsuits.
Q2 net income fell to $20.9 million or EPS of
$0.62 from $21 million or EPS of $0.62 a year earlier. Revenue increased to $1.1
billion from $967 million in Q2 2004.
The company settled two lawsuits
filed by United Office Products totalling $2.3 million in Q2, adding to its
operating expenses. United Stationer’s Canada division posted a $1.2 million
operating loss before taxes.
