Adobe’s FedEx Connection Leaves Printers Feeling ‘Betrayed’
July 2007San Jose, CA  – Adobe officials will respond Wednesday after meeting with printing companies feeling ‘betrayed’ over the imaging software company’s decision to link FedEx Kinko by a button on Adobe and Acrobat.”Our members frankly feel betrayed,” Joseph Truncale, president and CEO of the 3,400-member National Association for Printing Leadership, told The Wall Street Journal. In June, Adobe unveiled a new button allowing people to transfer documents directly to FedEx Kinko stores. As Internet printing jobs begin to outnumber walk-in customers, independent printers view the Adobe FedEx Kinko’s connection as a new version of the Internet Explorer versus Netscape debate held during the 1990s.Adobe “is reviewing the matter and expects to officially respond” Wednesday to the issue, according to Monday’s Wall Street Journal.Earlier this month, Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen told printing companies in a meeting the process that led to the FedEx Kinko’s button was “flawed,” the newspaper said, citing a blog entry by Johnny Loiacono, Adobe’s Senior Vice President.
