    Standardized Test Methods in Asia

This is a review of the status of standardized test methods in Asia and specifically in China. The ASTM International organization has become active in working with existing test-method organizations in China. In the past few years, ASTM International has worked with the Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China (SAC), China National Institute of Standardization (CNIS) and Institute of Standardization (SIS).The test methods developed at ASTM require a rigorous development procedure. During the past 25 years, the Business Imaging Products committee has developed numerous tests for copiers and printers using toner, inkjet and ink ribbon technologies.

Standardized test methods allow for a direct quality comparison between OEM and aftermarket printer cartridges. ASTM International, a non-profit organization founded in 1898, has developed standardized test methods for printer cartridges. The test methods are developed using the “consensus” rules of ASTM International. ASTM itself does not conduct technical research or testing; it is simply a forum for the development of consensus Standards.
