Laser Printer Sales Reach Record High
The Australian laser printer market reached its highest level in a quarter ever, with low-end mono laser printers driving the surge, according to latest IDC Australia research.Laser printer sales surpassed 90 000 units in Q1 2006 – IDC said shipments in Q1 were buoyed by more vendors strengthening their position in the entry-level space, reacting to the price competition.”The spike in volumes came from low-end single function mono laser printers, which hit a sub-A$200 benchmark in Q4 last year. The recent price reductions by vendors are poised to accelerate further commoditisation of laser printers, boosting uptake by SOHO users,” said IDC Analyst, Rishi Ghai.
