    • Xerox Reports Increase in Q3 Services Business

      Xerox Corporation announced third-quarter 2011 results that showed an 18 percent increase from third quarter 2010. Revenue from technology, representing the sale of document systems, supplies, technical service and financing of products, was up 1 percent or down 1 percent in constant currency. Revenue from services was up 6 percent or 5 percent in constant currency, reflecting growth in business process and document outsourcing. Signings for Xerox’s services were very strong, totaling $3.9 billion in the third quarter – an increase of 33 percent from third quarter 2010, and down 9 percent on a trailing 12-month basis due to the cyclicality of large deals.

    • Lexmark Reports Stronger-Than-Expected Q3 Results

      Lexmark International, Inc. announced financial results for the third quarter of 2011. In this quarter, revenue of $1.035 billion grew 1 percent compared with the same quarter last year. Hardware revenue grew 2 percent, supplies revenue was about flat, and software and other revenue grew 15 percent or 5 percent, excluding acquisition-related adjustments. Imaging Solutions and Services (ISS) revenue of $1.012 billion grew 1 percent in the third quarter compared to the same period last year. Perceptive Software revenue of $23 million grew 57 percent or 15 percent, excluding acquisition-related adjustments.

    • Canon Reports Strong 3Q Financials but Lowers Fiscal-Year Projections

      Canon’s third-quarter revenue totaled ¥916.9 billion (US$11,908 million), up 0.4 percent from third quarter 2010. Operating profit increased 17.4 percent to ¥122.5 billion (US$1,592 million), and net income grew 14.2 percent to ¥77.9 billion (US$1,011 million). Canon reported that the laser printer market continued to display solid growth boosted by emerging economies, and demand for inkjet printers resulted in stable growth overall. Canon’s Consumer Business Unit third-quarter sales totaled ¥347.4 billion (US$4,512 million), a 7 percent year-over-year increase. Due to the impact of the earthquake in Japan, floods in Thailand and an appreciating yen, Canon has lowered its full-year projections.

    • Océ Sees Increase in Printer Sales, Flat Revenue in Q3

      Océ announced its financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2011. Printer sales increased, but the company says revenue was flat and reported a net loss. Printer sales improved in the third quarter, said the company – now part of the Canon Group. Continuous-fed printers, specifically, saw increases, while a weak architectural engineering and construction (AEC) market in the U.S. and Europe affected Océ’s wide-format print business. Océ revenue for the third quarter was €621 million, down 7 percent from €665 million one year ago. The firm reported a third-quarter net loss of €22 million, down from a net income of €8 million one year ago.
