China’s Printer Shipments Reached 2.28 Million Units in First Quarter 2006

May 06– Analysys International, a leading Internet based provider of
business information about Technology, Media and Telecom industries in
China, says that unit shipments of printers in China reached 2.28
million in the first quarter of 2006, down 6.6% from the fourth quarter
of 2005, and market value reached RMB 3 billion, down 8.3% from the
fourth quarter of 2005, in its recently released report China Printer
Market Quarterly Tracker Q1 2006.According to the report, HP achieved
excellent performance in laser printer market in China, particularly in
the color laser printer market, leading the market with a market share
of 29.8%. Epson still had superiority in stylus printer and inkjet
printer market, accounting for 21.9% of the total market. Canon and
Lenovo were close concerning shipments, being in the third and the
fourth positions.In the first quarter of 2006, the price of mainstream
laser printers fell slightly. Many industrial users began to choose
laser printer products when purchasing new ones. Color laser printer
market developed especially well. As prices of inkjet printer
consumables declined sharply, comprehensive inkjet printing costs fell
considerably. As a result, the number of low-end and midrange users who
bought inkjet printers increased obviously. Stylus printer market
maintained stable development and professional level stylus printer
still had a relatively large user group.
