Lowry Computer Products Awarded U.S. Government Blanket Purchase Agreement for Acquisition of RFID Products
Previous RFID Class 1 Tag Award Expanded to Include RFID Hardware and Software
BRIGHTON, Mich., Aug.05- Lowry Computer Products, Inc., a
leading provider of wireless, RFID-EPC, bar code, and data collection
solutions, today announced the award of a Blanket Purchase Agreement by the
Army Contracting Agency (ACA). This Group 3 award follows a Group 1 Lowry
award for RFID-EPC Class 1 Tags. Under the terms of this agreement, Lowry
will supply the Department of Defense (DoD) with Zebra multi-protocol and
Printronix EPC-1 enabled printers and supplies, as well as TEKLYNX CODESOFT(R)
label design and integration software.
“This BPA more narrowly defines the list of qualified bidders for
government orders,” said Mark Brown, VP of New Business Development. “Lowry
is very enthusiastic about our potential opportunity to work with all branches
of the DoD.”
In July of 2004, the Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition,
Technology, and Logistics signed a memorandum and outlined a policy for the
use of RFID within the Department of Defense (DoD). The strategy was to take
maximum advantage of the inherent life-cycle asset management efficiencies
that can be realized by integrating RFID throughout the DoD.
“The DoD can now leverage Lowry’s expertise with Zebra and Printronix RFID
solutions to meet specific requirements for product identification, tracking,
locating, and monitoring of assets and commodities within their own
operations,” said Brown. “In addition to relying on Lowry as a qualified
source for RFID-EPC Class 1 tags, the DoD can now also rely on Lowry as an
experienced, certified provider of Zebra and Printronix RFID solutions.”
