Now, publicly held companies are manufacturing these cartridges by the millions and with the same quality controls employed by the first party toner and inkjet printer manufacturers.”Visit a Walgreens, Staples or Office Depot and you will find their generic brands right next to the first party brands. Next to an HP brand toner cartridge you may see an Office Depot brand cartridge. Having the office supply superstores endorsing compatible toner and ink products provides a tremendous amount of validity to the compatible lines, says OSO.According to Lyra Research, when asked about third party toner cartridges, Canon and Xerox have been quoted as saying that as long as their patents aren’t infringed upon, “It’s great for the consumer”. In fact, Xerox participates in third party sales developing toner cartridges for HP brand printers as a part of its “compatible” line.An inkjet printer can be purchased at just about anywhere for around $200. The original inkjet cartridges produced by the manufacturer of the printer could, for many companies, exceed the cost of the printer itself in less than a year! With the price of compatible or generic toner and inkjet cartridges being as much as half the price of the original and compatible brand imaging supplies becoming a part of the mainstream, you’re sure to see more price conscious consumers moving in that direction.
