Dell expects Q2 sales, earnings to fall
MANHASSET, N.Y. — Dell Computer expects second quarter fiscal 2007 revenue to be $14 billion with earnings per share of 21 to 23 cents. The computer said its estimates primarily reflect aggressive pricing in a global commercial market.Dell (Round Rock, Texas) earned $762 million, or 33 cents per share on sales of $14.2 billion in its first fiscal 2007 quarter.Although recent IDC data shows Dell increasing its market share slightly to 19.2 percent, the company has been affected by a slowdown in the PC industry. That slowdown has prompted price cuts and contributed to poor second-quarter earning results for microprocessor suppliers AMD Inc. and Intel Corp.
