Apparently,
recent efforts at developing incendiary laptops have not gone unnoticed
at the Pentagon. Dell was awarded a new contract with the US Military
earlier this week which is valued at up to $5 billion USD.The contract
is for laptops, desktops, displays, printers, and peripherals – so
basically, anything that Dell sells. It will be in effect for three
years, with the total purchase ceiling set at the above-mentioned $5
bn. This particular contract comes with an option for extension for a
total of 10 years, which is a pretty long contract for technology that
moves so quickly. The last contract with the military was made in 2001
with many computer manufacturers (including Dell), and was only worth
$300 million total. Finally, a reason for Dell to set things on fire.
