is probably more well-known for PCs and laptops, but the US company has
been making printers for seven years already. While the firm’s initial
plan was to concentrate marketing efforts on the US and selected
developed Asia markets, it is now targeting to strengthen its presence
in more parts of Asia Pacific.Issac Levin, general manager for Dell’s
Software and Peripherals in Asia Pacific and Japan, said Asia is a
strategic market important for the company’s growth. He also mentioned
that Asia is a key driving force for the global economy, which is why
Dell is looking to target this region. This year, the US vendor will
launch new printers in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Australia and New
Zealand. Next year, it hopes to enter more Asia markets, including
developing ones like India.
The company is looking to
differentiate itself from competitors such as HP, Samsung and Brother by
offering better warranty coverage to consumers. For example, the
One-Year Advanced Exchange Service aims to give users a peace of mind by
exchanging faulty units the next working day upon a complaint being
filed. It will even deliver the printers straight to the customer’s
doorstep. Other brands typically offer a one-year (or threre-year)
limited or on-site service, but most of them do not include an exchange
program.
Dell’s new range of printers, the 1250c, 1350cnw and
1355cn, are claimed by the company to be the world’s smallest color
laser printer in their class. The trio employs LED printing technology,
which helps reduce the footprint of the machines. They can be bought
only from Dell’s online store at S$349 (US$264.07), S$499 (US$377.57)
and S$899 (US$680.24), respectively.
