http://www.internet-ink.co.uk/ink-news/Ink/EU-Changes-Ink-Cartridge-Policy-3519E.U. PARLIAMENT ORDERED TO BUY ONLY REMANUFACTURED INK CARTRIDGES The European Parliament has changed its
policy on using ink cartridges after being lobbied by a British ink and
toner cartridge remanufacturing group.More
than 10,000 ink and toner cartridges are bought by the parliament every
year and until recently they had ignored calls to use recycled models,
Rochdale Online reported. With the backing of Liberal Democrat MEP Chris
Davies, parliamentary policy has now shifted to using more recycled ink
and toner cartridges.
Laura Heywood, secretary of the UK
Association of toner and inkjet cartridge remanufacturers and managing
director of Kleenstrike, the Rochdale-based company that pushed through
the changes, said that the purchase of recycled goods should be a
priority. She added: “Taxpayers’ money should not be wasted.
Remanufactured cartridges have been proven time and again to be of the
same quality as original cartridges, are up to 30 to 40 per cent less
expensive and are more environment-friendly.”
