Ex-Xerox Employee Wins $9.8M New York State Lotto Jackpot
WEBSTER, NY (WROC) – A seventy-six-year-old Xerox retiree has won a massive Lotto jackpot.
Richard Giles, of Macedon, was presented his ceremonial check by the New York State Lottery on Thursday. In a statement, he said, "I checked my numbers after the drawing and realized that I matched all six numbers."
Giles won the jackpot during an October drawing off a ticket he bought at Hegedorns in Webster. After he figured out he won, he says, "I immediately locked the ticket up in my safe and called my financial advisor."
Giles will get his prize in a one-time lump sum payment. He will receive a net payment of $4.4 million.
