Fake Epson Cartridges Dealer Arrested In India
As per the press note issued by Epson, the Mumbai Police has recently busted a large fake cartridges racket catering to large parts of west and central India.

The police raided the premises of a dealer with two large consumable shops, Mital and Gami, in the Fort area of Mumbai and reportedly arrested the dealer and an employee for allegedly counterfeiting and violating intellectual property rights.

According to the press note, more than 6,000 refilled Epson fake cartridges of different printers were seized and the refilling unit was shuttered.

In an effort to send a strong message of zero tolerance toward the sale of fake cartridges, the police in different parts of the country have stepped up their co-operation and efforts to arrest and terminate such practices.

Earlier in October 2012, police in Chennai raided the premises of a well established IT dealer, Sanguine IT Solutions, and reportedly arrested him for selling fake Epson cartridges. Sanguine was allegedly caught with 235 units of fake T5852 cartridges used in Epson’s Picturemate Series of printers.

“We applaud the efforts of the police to curb this menace and will whole heartedly assist and support the law enforcement authorities in all such crack downs,” said a spokesperson of Seiko Epson Corporation. “We will continue vigorous enforcement of our intellectual property rights to protect our innovative products against those who use Epson’s patented technology, trademarks, and other intellectual property without permission.”
