FedEx Kinko’s Opens World Production Center in Memphis
DALLAS–Jan.  2006– FedEx Kinko’s, an operating company of FedEx Corp., today announced the opening of its World Production Center in Memphis, Tenn., to help customers more efficiently process and ship documents. The introduction of this facility, as well as expanded services across the company’s 37 other Commercial Production Centers nationwide, makes it easier for customers to move materials from conception to consumption–utilizing the strength of FedEx Kinko’s business services and the FedEx shipping network.
The opening of the flagship World Production Center, a 28,500 square foot facility featuring state-of-the-art, commercial-grade printing equipment, exponentially increases the capabilities of FedEx Kinko’s Commercial Document Solutions. The facility allows FedEx Kinko’s to easily handle the most complex, large-scale orders and orders that present the greatest challenges, including high volume, short deadlines, integration of personal data, kit assembly and more. The flagship location also has access to the latest shipping with FedEx Express with proximity to the FedEx Express World Hub, stretching time for customers who distribute information around the world.
“As part of the FedEx family, FedEx Kinko’s is uniquely positioned to deliver on information logistics,” explains John McDonald, executive vice president, Commercial Document Solutions at FedEx Kinko’s. “Through the power of our combined networks, we are breaking down the barriers customers have faced in controlling costs and improving efficiencies when distributing printed information.”
The completion of the new World Production Center is a significant expansion to FedEx Kinko’s closed-door production-printing network, which serves commercial customers and supplements the company’s 1,500 retail locations. The expansion demonstrates the success of FedEx Kinko’s new business model, information logistics, which aims to move customer information in the fastest, most flexible and most innovative way.
“The World Production Center is a physical symbol of information logistics and so much more,” said McDonald. “With the unparalleled distribution power of the FedEx Kinko’s World Production Center, businesses can get ahead of the game and realize the true promise of digital printing.”
In addition to the World Production Center, FedEx Kinko’s also announced expanded services at its Commercial Production Centers, located in major markets around the country. Select locations have added direct mail, CD/DVD duplication and high-speed laminating – all of which are accessible across the entire FedEx Kinko’s network.
The addition of these new services is a natural extension of FedEx Kinko’s breadth of offerings for commercial customers. Services at every FedEx Kinko’s closed-door production center already include high-volume distributed production printing and finishing and the full range of FedEx shipping services. The locations have dedicated staff focused on production and are located near the company’s retail locations in order to best leverage the network.
