FLORIDA SCHOOL DISTRICT GETS $300k
REFUND FROM OFFICE DEPOT
Lee County Schools get refund from Office Depot
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Lee County School District is the
latest Southwest Florida government agency to ask for money back from
Office Depot.Superintendent Dr. James Browder says the district found
cases of overcharging in their office supply contract with the
company.Last week, the district received a refund check for $297,000 in a
refund; and Browder says they’ve sent letters to the company saying
they won’t continue to do business with them.
Browder also
thanked David Sherwin, a Fort Myers man who first leveled the
accusations against his former employer, Office Depot.”(Sherwin) has
helped many districts in the United States recover money that, had it
not been made public, never would have gotten,” Browder said.”This is
money on the backs of children, that to me, is despicable. You don’t
take advantage of children,” said school board member Bob Chilmonik.Lee
County and the Collier County School District have also received refunds
from Office Depot from alleged overcharging.
