Fortune 500 gives strong presence to the toner industry
April 2006 – New York (NY): OP players and companies involved in OP featured highly in the Fortune 500 list of last year’s largest US corporations.
OP superstores Staples and Office Depot had gone up since last years list – to position 137 from 146 and 154 from 156 respectively. OfficeMax meanwhile had slipped from 159 last year to 258 this year.
Wal-Mart was knocked from the top spot last year to number two this year by Exxon Mobil.
On the manufacturer side – in order of size – IBM ranked 10 (from 10 in 2004); Hewlett-Packard ranked 11 (from 11 in 2004); Dell ranked 25 (from 28 in 2004); International Paper ranked 82 (from 70 in 2004): Weyerhaeuser ranked 90 (from 89 in 2004); 3M ranked 101 (from 105 in 2004); Xerox ranked 142 (from 132 in 2004); Eastman Kodak ranked 155 (from 153 in 2004); Texas Instruments ranked 167 (from 166 in 2004); Meadwestvaco ranked 322 (from 267 in 2004); Newell Rubbermaid ranked 332 (from 304 in 2004); Avery Dennison ranked 393 (from 366 in 2004); Pitney Bowes ranked 394 (from 392 in 2004); and Ikon Office Solutions ranked 469 (from 415 last year).On the reseller side, Ingram Micro ranked 72 (from 76 in 2004); Tech data ranked 107 (from 110 in 2004); and United Stationers ranked 468 (the same as last year).
