French Toner Remanufacture Armor To Launch M.P.S. Program
    By Andy Braithwaite.

Nantes, France, Leading European aftermarket print consumables firm Armor is set to launch a managed print services (MPS) solution for resellers as it looks to lessen its reliance on transactional sales.

Armor Sales Director Bob Reynolds revealed the news to OPI in Frankfurt, where the company is exhibiting at the RemanExpo, the aftermarket supplies show that is co-located with Paperworld.

The France-based group will initially offer its MPS solution in its home market, with the official launch taking place in February at the IT Partners trade show in Paris. Reynolds said there were no plans at this time to launch the service in other markets.

Running as an independent unit within Armor’s Office Printing division, the MPS team will mainly look to work with VARs (value-added resellers) to drive adoption of the MPS offering, though Reynolds said it would also appeal to office supplies resellers that are able to sell print solutions.

Armor is using a customised third-party software solution for its cost-per-page model, and has partnered with distribution giant Tech Data for product fulfilment. The introduction of an MPS solution comes after the company reviewed its business model, explained Reynolds, realising that it needed to reduce its dependence on transactional consumables sales and develop contractual-based revenue streams.

That said, Reynolds said that Armor’s sales in France were up in the double-digits in 2016 – bucking market trends – as it won market share.
