Japan’s Fuji Xerox, 4 others set up product database
TOKYO
– Fuji Xerox Co and four other companies have established an
application service provider (ASP) joint venture to lease product
traceability database software to businesses, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun
reported.
Capitalized
at 15 mln yen, the joint venture is 51 pct owned by eBASE Co, an Osaka
software developer, while other shareholders include NEC Corp and
Toppan Printing Co , Nikkei said in a weekend edition.
This joint venture leases the software online to manufacturers and suppliers, as well as wholesalers and retailers, it said.
Users
on the supply side are charged 5,000 yen per month, excluding taxes.
The monthly charge for users on the sales side is set at 50,000 yen per
month, excluding taxes, it said.
The paper added that because the
development of a new product traceability database could cost as much
as several hundred million yen, the joint venture hopes to tap demand
among small businesses.
