Fuji Xerox says China to lead growth in copiers and printers

Xerox Co Ltd predicted double-digit growth in its color printers and
copiers in China in the coming years as the machines become a major
trend in the world’s fastest growing economy.The Japan-based company
yesterday said color products will be the focus of its expansion this
year in China, its second-largest market after Japan.”Color machines
are gradually taking over and the momentum started last year,” said
Chen Xiaoken, chief operating officer at Fuji Xerox (China) Ltd.”Color
printing products will also cover a major part of our R&D
investment this year.”Chen declined to give financial details about the
R&D investment.Fuji Xerox this month reported a 20 percent growth
in its revenue for fiscal year 2005. Sales for color office products
surged 50 percent, compared to the 30 percent increase in total sales
of office machines.printer maker expects sales to rise another 30
percent this year as it expands marketing and promotions. s”We are
strengthening direct selling forces,” said Chen.The firm yesterday
started a direct promotional tour that will cover 10 major cities
including Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Chengdu. It hopes to sell
more of its products via direct talks and demonstrations to attract
more corporate customers.Fuji Xerox earlier estimated China’s digital
printing market will expand to US$156 million by 2008. Canon Inc opened
its global parts center outsdie Japan last July in Suzhou, Jiangsu
Province.
