Hey Lexmark, Xerox Is Adding 1200 Jobs In your Own Backyard
    By Cheryl Truman

Xerox is adding 1,200 temporary and permanent positions in the Lexington area by the end of 2014 to support an expanding number of clients in its call center operation, the company announced Monday.

Xerox employs more than 2,500 people in Lexington. Spokesman Chris Gilligan said that number will increase to nearly 3,000 with the permanent new employees. Xerox is Lexington's sixth-largest employer. The company said in a news release that with the addition of 400 regular full-time positions, it might become Lexington's second-largest employer.

Eight hundred other positions will be full-time seasonal employment to support annual open enrollment for health care providers.

Gov. Steve Beshear said Xerox's hiring "is good news for the company and good news for Kentuckians."

Jobs will be for call center work serving several companies in a variety of industries, according to the news release.

As part of the full-time hiring, Xerox is seeking to fill 50 entry-level jobs such as data entry operators, mail sorters and scanner operators for several of its health care and insurance clients.

In the Xerox news release, Lexington Mayor Jim Gray called the additional hiring "exciting news, more than 1,200 families in Lexington will have new job opportunities."

Hiring begins immediately at three Xerox offices in Lexington: 101 Yorkshire Boulevard, 745 West New Circle Road, building 200, and 2432 Fortune Drive.

Daily walk-ins will be accepted at Yorkshire Boulevard and West New Circle Road. Applicants may also get job information at the Xerox.com careers site or by calling (859)389-3715 or (859)389-2312.
