manufacturer Nypro Inc. has notified state officials that the
Massachusetts company will close its Corvallis office on November 30.
The company said it will lay off 62 employees, beginning in
August.Nypro’s Corvallis facility opened in 1994. It focuses on molded
plastics for the health care, electronics, telecommunications and
consumer markets.In a statement, Steve Holland, a vice president in
Nypro’s health care business unit, said the company is shifting its
focus to larger manufacturing facilities with several hundred
employees.The Corvallis site “unfortunately does not fit the new
strategic size requirements of the company’s global customers,” Holland
said.Nypro’s Web site says that the Corvallis facility slated for
closure provides molded plastics for the health care, electronics,
telecommunications and consumer markets.In a notification letter to
Oregon officials, Holland said Nypro will begin the layoffs on Aug. 3,
with additional cuts on Oct. 6 and Nov. 5 before the Nov. 30 closure.
