    HP acquires Voltage Security.
Summary:The move will bolster HP's encryption and data security business. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

HP on Monday said it has acquired Voltage Security, which specializes in encryption technology.

The move will bolster HP's security line-up and add to its Atalla, security and encryption unit. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

Voltage Security's products cover everything from payment to file to email encryption. The company also targets big data, retail, financial services and other markets.

In a blog post, Voltage said HP's resources will help it scale and deliver more proactive data protection tools. For its part, HP can use Voltage's technology to better protect data as it flows into Hadoop for analytics.

The deal is expected to close in the first half of HP's fiscal 2015.

As big data, the IoT, and social media spread their wings, they bring new challenges to information security and user privacy.
