Tech Data UK encourages resellers to use QR codes to identify fake HP laser cartridges

Cartridges that have been re-manufactured or refilled and compatible cartridges that have been illegally packaged are often being represented and sold as original HP toner cartridges. Spencer Lab carried out a cartridge reliability study of HP toner cartridges and eight major non-HP brands that are sold as substitutes in EMEA. They found that HP original toner yielded no problem cartridges whereas 53 percent of the non-HP cartridges showed reliability issues. HP cartridges also had the largest percentage print quality samples, clearly surpassing the quality of the non-HP substitutes.
