HP FILES LAWSUIT TO STOP U.S. IMPORTS
    FROM TAIWAN’s A.P.M.

    HP
adds Asia Pacific Microsystems as defendant in cartridge patent case

Printer and PC heavyweight HP has yesterday re-filed its
Federal District court complaint regarding the sale of patent-infringing
cartridges and products featuring stolen components, the move being
made so as to add a new name to the defendant list – Asia Pacific
    Microsystems (APM).

Based in Taiwan, APM is the fifth company
accused via a lawsuit in a San Francisco court and a complaint with the
U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) of making and selling printer
ink cartridges that utilized genuine HP printheads, obviously without
having HP’s consent. With the two cases HP is seeking damages and an
injunction to halt US imports of the infringing cartridges.
