HP Urges Customers To Return Used Printer Cartridges
KUALA LUMPUR: Hewlett-Packard has urged customers to return used cartridges through its return and recycling programme — HP planet partners — to further reduce their environmental impact.
Martin Tan, Market Development Manager, Inkjet & Web Solutions, Printing & Personal System Group, HP Malaysia, said the company’s return and recycling programme ensured that cartridges that were returned are not sent to landfills.
"Our HP 46 Ink Cartridge is designed to produce a higher page-yield while retaining a compact size and contains up to 60 per cent recycled content," he said to reporters today.
The new cartridge, costing RM37 each, is used with the new HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2520 and 2020 high capacity (hc) printing system that can print up to 1,500 pages.
The HP 46 ink cartridge comprises black pigment ink, which produces high-quality black prints and dye-based colour inks that produce sharp graphics.
"The new Ink Advantage 2520 hc All-in-one and 2020hc printers are energy star qualified, and offer fast printing speeds at up to seven pages per minute (black print)," Tan said.
He said along with features like borderless printing of photos and flyers, the new Ink Advantage printers offer versatile solutions for families, students and businesses.
In addition, students, families and businesses no longer need to deal with the risks and hassles of failed print jobs and messy ink spills when using non-HP supplies, he added.
"The All-in-One printers can easily print from any wireless enabled mobile devices without a network or router through the HP wireless direct printing," he added.
The HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2520hc and the Ink Advantage 2020hc printers are available since October 2012 at RM389 and RM299 respectively.
Tan also said that HP has maintained the number one position in personal computer shipments worldwide and in the United States.
According to a HP-commissioned study conducted by International Data Corporation (IDC) last year, home-users and businesses are seriously concerned that using alternatives such as Continuous Ink Supplies Systems (CISS), may lead to warranty voids, printer breakdowns, messy leaks and the hassle of having to deal with regular machine failures.
