Hp Says Printer Buyer Can't Certify False Advertsing Lawsuit

Law360, New York (July 20, 2016, 4:57 PM ET) — Hewlett Packard Co. told a California federal judge on Tuesday that the customer accusing the company of falsely advertising its line of laser printers as easy to install can't certify a class of household consumers because the LaserJet Pro P1102w is primarily sold to businesses through retail channels and is not marketed for personal use.

California's Consumer Legal Remedies Act applies only to consumers who claim to have bought a falsely advertised product for personal use not all purchasers, HP said, and purchasers of the device…
