Not just thousands, but hundreds of thousands of printer cartridges made in China are no longer being bought by Russian distributors who now prefer cartridges that can be supplied by cartridge remanufacturers in Western Europe.

An anonymous source has told RT Media that the large container loads of cartridges are not being ordered as previously because most Chinese companies do not meet the new standards required by Russian organisations and the government.

“Cartridges that do not meet the standards set by US authorities or European Union in their respective regions have been ‘dumped’ into the Russian market for many years,” the Russian industry person said. “These cartridges are either poor in quality, have low yields, have high failure rates, and infringe OEM patents.”

RT Media‘s Russian partner who runs the Business-Inform information agency, declined to confirm the seriousness of the comments but advised new standards have indeed come to Russia. Malinskiy said he and Dr Tatiana Kashinskaya, General Director of Laboratory of Electrography Ltd. will talk to Chinese companies about the new Russian Standardized Test Method (LEM) at the RemaxWorld Expo on October 18 in Zhuhai China.
