India : HP To Now Extend Mobile Authentication To Toners
April 2012,In its efforts to curb counterfeits, HP has planned to extend the purview of its mobile authentication tool beyond ink cartridges to include toner cartridges. The company will introduce the facility for toner cartridges in May 2012.
“Counterfeit is a loss to customers, government as well as our brand image. We introduced the Mobile Authentication Tool for ink cartridges in December 2011 enabled through HP eSupplies mobile app and are now extending the facility to toner cartridges as well,” said Vitesh K Sharma, Country Category Manager, LaserJet Supplies, Imaging and Printing Group, HP India.
“This way we are protecting the interest of customers, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers and also promoting the brand HP. Considering the fast paced adoption of smartphones in the Indian market, the HP Mobile Authentication tool is bound to safeguard the interest of our huge customer base,” he added.
The eSupplies mobile app enables to capture the QR label with a smartphone and validate the label.
