India Ranked No. 2 in Counterfeit,

A Canadian research firm
has ranked USA at number one in number of counterfeit incidents reported in
April 2005, with India being a far second.
Gieschen Consultancy
reported over 690 counterfeit incidents in the US, with India behind at 190. The
list has a total of 81 countries. The UK comes third with 139 incidents.
The two entities engaged in computer equipment and supplies in India
alleged to have indulged in counterfeit activity are Balaji Enterprises,
Bhagwati Stationers and Ravi Kumar Agency.
Much of the computer
equipment products reported as being counterfeited are ink and toner cartridges
and consumables. Canon and HP got the maximum mentions of seven and 4 reported
incidents, respectively, in the computer equipment and supplies category.
