KYOCERA-MITA CLAMPS DOWN ON COUNTERFEIT TONERS IN IRELAND
Print vendor takes action against rogue trader caught touting counterfeit toner cartridges
Print
vendor Kyocera Mita has taken out an injunction against a firm caught
importing counterfeit toner cassettes into Ireland. The counterfeit haul
has been valued at over £430,000 by Kyocera Mita and the company, which
has not been named, has been ordered to pay the vendor’s legal costs. The
case was brought to the vendor’s attention by a Dublin-based partner
who had concerns over the authenticity of the products and handed them
over to the vendor.Kyocera Mita tested a batch, confirmed they were not
genuine and has now issued the firm with an injunction ordering it to
hand over the counterfeit goods.
Jun Okumura, general manager of
Kyocera Mita, said taking action against counterfeiters was always a
priority for the firm.He said: “We will not tolerate trade in
counterfeit products, and will rigorously pursue all parties in the
distribution chain to protect our intellectual property rights.“We see
this as an important part of our role of safeguarding the revenues of
our channel partners who could otherwise see unfair and unlawful
competition from sales of counterfeit products.”
