    ’07 Shipments of Japan-Made Office Equipment Up 5.3 Percent

    Feb  2008  Global shipments of Japanese-made office equipment in 2007
    grew 5.3 pct from the previous year to 1,993 billion yen, rising for
    the fourth straight year, an industry group said Tuesday.Domestic
    shipments rose 3.7 pct to 603.6 billion yen, and exports increased 6.1
    pct to 1,389.5 billion yen, the Japan Business Machine and Information
    System Industries Association said.By category, shipments of copiers
    and multifunctional copiers rose 4.7 pct to 1,059 billion yen due to
    increasing demand for color copiers.Shipments of data projectors rose
    8.7 pct to 279.5 billion yen, and those of calculators, electronic
    dictionaries and personal digital assistants grew 14.8 pct to 120.6
    billion yen.Meanwhile, page printer shipments were down 0.2 pct at
    397.6 billion yen.
