Dell to enter Japanese market for office color laser printers
TOKYO
– Dell Inc will enter the Japanese market for office color laser
printers, selling them at about half the price charged by its
competitors, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported. The newspaper, without
identifying its sources, said Dell’s entry into this market is likely
to unleash fierce competition and send prices falling, pruning the high
profit margins of Canon Inc and other Japanese producers. The US firm
will sell here for less than 90,000 yen a model capable of printing 17
pages per minute in color and 30 pages per minute in monochrome.
Comparable printers made by its competitors sell for about 200,000
yen.Dell will also sell ink cartridges at about half the price of rival
products, the Nikkei said.
