Konica Minolta, Oce to mutually supply printers
TOKYO, Jan 08 – Japanese office equipment maker Konica Minolta Holdings  said it had agreed with Dutch photocopier and printer maker Oce NV  to mutually supply multifunctional peripherals and digital commercial printers.Multifunctional peripherals (MFPs) typically offer printer, copier and facsimile functions, while digital commercial printers are used to print such documents as product manuals and direct mail quickly and in large volumes.Konica Minolta and Oce will supply each other with MFPs and digital commercial printers on an original equipment manufacturing (OEM) basis to strengthen their product lineups. In an OEM deal, a manufacturer makes products under the brand name of a buyer, who in turn sells them to end-users.In the area of digital commercial printing, Konica Minolta is set to provide basic machines to Oce, while the Dutch firm will supply Konica Minolta with mid-range to high-end products.A Konica Minolta spokesman said it was too early to assess the impact of the deal on sales or profits.Shares in Konica Minolta closed down 3.9 percent at 1,729 yen, underperforming the Nikkei average .N225, which fell 1.0 percent.
