Russellville man accused of embezzling $222,000
A Russellville man is accused of embezzling more than $222,000 from a Bowling Green printing company and was arrested last week.

Kevin Gettings, 34, of 123 Kelsey Circle in Russellville, was charged with theft by unlawful taking of more than $10,000. Over the course of about seven years, Gettings, a sales representative at Gerald Printing since January 2004, collected money that should have gone to Gerald Printing using a fake company name, Printers Ink, according to court documents.

Gettings, on behalf of Gerald Printing, negotiated an agreement with Houchens Food Group to print store signs, according to court documents.

Gettings told Houchens that Gerald Printing could not perform all the work, so another company called Printers Ink would help complete the projects. Houchens made payments to both Gerald Printing and Printers Ink from October 2004 to July 2011, court documents say.

“During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Printers Ink does not exist except for a P.O. box and a bank account set up by Kevin Gettings,” the documents say.

While part of the payments were made to Gerald Printing, the rest – totaling more than $222,000 – were sent to Printers Ink, according to court documents.

The investigation showed that all physical work was performed by Gerald Printing, but Gettings directed payments by Houchens to Printers Ink, according to court documents.

“Gerald Printing is blessed to be in excellent financial condition and fortunately has the resources to continue to provide all our graphic services to our customers,” Gerald Printing owner Joe Davis told the Daily News today.

Gettings was arrested by Kentucky State Police on Jan. 10 and released Wednesday from Warren County Regional Jail on a $10,000 surety bond. A court hearing is set for March 16, according to court records.
