Konica Minolta Acquires Radiant Vision Systems for $241 million
    by James Risley

Redmond-based Radiant Vision Systems is being acquired by Japanese technology company Konica Minolta, the companies announced this week. The companies say Radiant will strengthen Konica Minolta’s existing light and display measurement division. The purchase price is $241 million, according to the Nikkei Asian Review.

Radiant Vision Systems specializes in spotting flaws in high-definition displays found on smartphones and other devices. Konica Minolta’s display measurement division currently focuses on larger displays.

“The combination will enable us to deliver more solutions to customers, invest in new product development, and strengthen relationships with partners and customers globally,” Radiant CEO Paul Caragher said in a statement.

Konica Minolta will maintain Radiant’s presence in the Pacific Northwest to build a stronger presence on the West Coast. Radiant sold its optical design software business, Zemax, to Arlington Capital Partners last year.
