    Konica Minolta gets environment tick
August 2007 /Konica Minolta has won an Environmental Choice accreditation in recognition of the company’s efforts to decrease the impact its products have on the planet.Environmental Choice New Zealand is a government initiated labelling programme designed to help consumers find products that minimize adverse environmental impacts generated by the production, distribution, use and disposal of products.Konica Minolta general manager Warwick Beban says, “The process of gaining accreditation brought our team closer together because we were all working for a common goal that affects all of us as New Zealanders.”The Environmental Choice ‘ecolabel’ is based on stringent criteria relating to legislative compliance, design, materials, emissions, noise, packaging, recycling, energy, duplex copying, availability of spare parts and consumables, paper and consumer information.”We’re proud of our achievement and want our customers to feel assured they have a responsible partner in Konica Minolta,” says Mr Beban. One area that also gained Konica Minolta points is in its multi-function printer-copier refurbishment. Each month the company refurbishes over 300 multi-functional devices and resells them back to the market, creating significant cost savings for customers.Devices not suitable for the New Zealand market are also exported to continue their working lives in South-East Asia and the Middle East.Konica Minolta is also rolling out include machine end-of-life disposal to ensure plastic, metal and glass parts are fully recycled, environmentally sound battery disposal, packaging recycling and toner cartridge recycling.
