    Kyocera Planning new R&D Centre in India

    New Delhi, Apr 2013 Documentation solutions provider Kyocera Documents India is planning to set up a research and development (R&D) facility in India with an investment of about Rs 100 crore in the next 3 years.

    "Kyocera is planning to set up a software R&D centre in India, probably in Gurgaon or Bangalore. We are working out the budget, but, it could be up to Rs 100 crore," Kyocera Documents India Managing Director K Swetharanyan told PTI.

    At present, it is in discussions stage and planning to work it out in the next 3 years. The software development facility in India will be in addition to Japan and California-based centres and will be for the entire Kyocera Document Solutions Group, he added.

    "We are also looking at the option of either starting a R&D centre or outsource it to a major Indian software developer. We will also discuss it with the major software developers in India," he said.

    The R&D facility will work on softwares for multi functional products like documentation cost control, document and data security, document management systems, data archival and retrieval and mobile and cloud printing solutions, Swetharanyan added.

    Helped by growing sales from metro cities, Kyocera expects its revenues to rise by more than 50 per cent to Rs 110-115 crore in the 2012-13 fiscal from Rs 70 crore in 2011-12 fiscal.

    "We expect to clock Rs 110-115 crore in turnover this fiscal as sales of our printers and other products have been witnessing steady growth in metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad," Swetharanyan said.

    The company also plans to spend 2 per cent of its turnover on marketing, brand building exercises and consumer awareness exercises, he added.

    Kyocera Document Solutions India, part of Japanese Office Automation major Kyocera Document Solutions Corporation, manufactures photo copiers and also supplies applications tailored to document management for firms that need to manage vast quantities documents.
