Laser printer sales climb in Russia
Samsung and HP remain the Russian all-in-one laser printer leaders
The latest data from research house Context shows a 9% year-on-year increase in Russian all-in-one laser printer shipments in the first quarter of 2012. The growth in all-in-one laser printer shipments occurred against a backdrop of printing device shipments across all product categories falling 6% year-on-year for the same period.

The growth in all-in-one laser printer shipments in Russia was driven by the success of mid-placed vendors such as Xerox and Brother, according to Context. Brother almost tripled its shipments year-on-year in the first quarter of 2012. Xerox saw an 80% year-on-year growth in Russia.

Samsung and HP remain the Russian all-in-one laser printer leaders with market shares of 29% and 27% respectively, but the strong growth from Xerox saw them take third spot with an 18% share of the market, according to Context.

Context participated in last week’s DISTREE Russia & CIS event in St. Petersburg, delivering a keynote speech and moderating a workshop session. Context has established a distributor panel in Russia and is now in a position to provide detailed analysis of in-country channel trends
