Growth Projected in the Personal Monochrome Laser MFP Market Segment
    January 2005, Lyra Research, Inc.

Personal monochrome laser multifunction products (MFPs) represent one bright spot in an otherwise flat monochrome laser market. The worldwide installed base of personal monochrome laser MFPs is forecast to grow steadily from 6.5 million units in 2003 to 10.2 million units in 2008, a CAGR of 9 percent . Several factors are driving this growth, including a growing number of small-office/home-office consumers and users’ increased comfort with the concept of multifunctionality. In addition, vendors’ aggressive pricing strategies have led to a decrease in the pricing differential between multifunction and single-function laser printers, making it more appealing for a consumer to select a multifunction product.
