Lexmark: Malaysia remains an important market
    March 2006
PRINTER maker Lexmark Asia Pacific Corp Inc expects Malaysia to continue being an important market for the group’s business in Asia Pacific despite posting single-digit growth last year.
Its Malaysian unit, Lexmark Malaysia, recorded sales of US$18 million (about RM67 million) in 2004, the highest sales among other countries in the South-East Asia and South Asia region.
However, in 2005, it was Thailand which took the lead in terms of revenue recorded.
“The Malaysian market will always be important to us as the market and its potential is huge,” Lexmark Asean/South Asia marketing manager Minh Tran said.
He was speaking to the press during the launch of its six new printers in Sunway, Selangor, yesterday.
Among printers that were launched included E120, E120n, X7350, X8350, X646e and X854e, which mainly targets small and medium businesses (SMBs) and large corporations.
Its entry level laser printer for the SMBs E120 is priced at RM499, while printers for SMBs X7350 and X8350 cost not more than RM899.
The X646e and X854e printers, mainly designed for larger companies, have a price tag of RM15,856 and RM58,622 each respectively.
Besides adding more features to its products, the company also invests its resources to develop its softwares and solutions, Minh said.
“With the solutions, we can now convert a Word Document into a PowerPoint format (or other formats) with just a drag of mouse,” he added.
Minh confirmed that there will be more launches of Lexmark products this year. However, he declined to reveal further details.
Last year, the company launched more than 15 products
