LEXINGTON,
Ky., March 07 Lexmark International, Inc., is collaborating with
fingerprint systemvendor Mentalix, Inc., to give law enforcement
agencies the first color printing solution for fingerprint card
printers to be certified by the FBI.
Mentalix’s
CardPrint Application Program Interface (API) Toolkit works on the
Lexmark C524 and C534 color laser printer families and allows law
enforcement officials to print color imaging, color boundaries and
fingerprint images on a single sheet of blank card stock to speed up
processes and save costs. Currently, fingerprint cards have pre-printed
boundaries that make it difficult to combine fingerprints with other
documents, and imaging is usually attached in a separate document with
staples or a paper clip that can be easily separated or lost. This
solution has received certification from the FBI and can be tailored to
support custom fingerprint card templates. The CardPrint API Toolkit
runs on Microsoft(R) Windows XP Professional and is also FBI-certified
for use with the Lexmark T640 monochrome laser printer family for
customers that only need to print in black and white. Fingerprints
printed with the toolkit on the T640 family, C524 or C534 will be
accepted by the FBI for comparisons with the Bureau’s Integrated
Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS).”We’ve already had
a positive response to this breakthrough from our customers,
particularly those who would like to print color imaging directly on
their fingerprint cards,” said Brian Gross, president of Mentalix.
“This solution helps agencies cut costs because they can print a
variety of fingerprint card types on the same raw card stock and no
longer have to keep different card types and sizes in their office
inventory.” “Lexmark’s combination of vertical industry expertise and
our technology ownership allows us to develop integrated, customized
solutions for our customers that help them increase productivity and
reduce costs,” said Paul Rooke, Lexmark executive vice president and
president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division. “We are
pleased to partner with Mentalix to deliver this advanced capability
for law enforcement customers.”
