Lexmark introduces industrial inkjet solution for OEM customers
LEXINGTON, Ky., May 07Lexmark International, Inc. today introduced new thermal inkjet print technology for OEM customers who are developing variable data industrial printing applications. This new industrial inkjet printing system, dubbed the Lexmark Mustang Printer for its superior speed and agility, can be easily integrated by the OEM with an end-user’s existing transport base or packaged by the OEM as part of a ready-to-run variable data printing solution.

The new system is one of a range of inkjet products that Lexmark offers OEM customers.”This new industrial printing system uses our advanced thermal inkjet technology to provide our OEM partners with a solution that delivers speed, reliability and superior cost performance,” said Najib Bahous, Lexmark vice president and president of its Consumer Printer Division, which develops all OEM inkjet solutions. At speeds up to 760 feet per minute and print resolutions up to 600 dots per inch, this robust system is ideal for industrial printing applications that require high-performance, cost-effective variable data imaging, such as mail addressing, product coding, packaging, tickets, barcode labels, bills and statements. The heart of the printer is the imaging module. Multiple imaging modules can be combined on one printer, enabling a total imprint area of up to eight inches in a single pass. The imaging modules are available with both single-use and bulk cartridges. The single-use cartridges are ideal for short production runs or spot-color print jobs, while the bulk delivery system offers greater economy and productivity for larger volumes. Both cartridge options are available with Lexmark’s uniquely formulated pigmented aqueous inks, which provide sharp, crisp text and graphics, even on aqueous coated “glossy” media and other hard-to-print surfaces.”We tested Lexmark’s technology during our busiest season and quickly came to rely on its outstanding speed and performance to fulfill critical orders,” said Bill Nichols, owner of Bluegrass Mailing and Fulfillment in Lexington, Kentucky. “It substantially outperformed our other thermal inkjet systems. The Lexmark technology’s bulk delivery works flawlessly and the special ink works on as broad a range of substrates as any thermal inkjet ink we have tested. We are in the midst of installing additional Lexmark systems to address our future growth needs.”
